original Unreal Tournament and OSS sound

I have gone back and added oss modules to my kernel because it seems that I need OSS for UT to play sound.

My system plays just fine with alsa in mplayer, xmms, gnome sounds ect.

I get NOTHING with UT

it runs fine and the install went fine,
I can't find much of the original, everybody is on UT2004.

I own UT and I like the strikeforce mod. I don't own UT2004...
