|
|
For some reason, on my new install, I can't open any terminals. I've tried Eterm, aterm, and xterm. Error messages are as follow:
Code: |
reason: get_pty: not enough ptys
aterm: can't open slave tty (null)
Eterm: Error: grantpt(4) failed: No such file or directory
Eterm: Error: Can't open pseudo-tty -- No such file or directory
Eterm: Error: Unable to run sub-command.
|
Does anyone have an idea what's causing this, and how to correct it? I can't figure it out. |

Recently upgrade to 2.5?
Try:
Code: | mount -t devpts devpts /dev/pts |

What kernel are you using? If it's 2.5.68, and you've been using something older before, you must mount the /dev/pts filesystem, as devfs no longer takes care of this feature for you. This bit me when I tried 2.5.68 last weekend. If it's something older, I'm not sure what your problem is, but it's probably related, since it looks like you can't get a pseudo-tty for your terminal program. |
