Hey all,
I managed to get DRI working in straight X (quite a task on an ATI Radeon 9100 IGP), and jumped for joy thinking it would make compiz super slick and smooth.

However, when I run Xgl, I get no dri (acording to glxinfo). I also don't see any errors in dmesg, or my xorg log that would make me think something's wrong.

Any ideas? Would I be better off switching back to AIGLX (had DRI there)?

you won't get (see) DRI under XGL... that's normal...
so stop asking and enjoy XGL + compiz...

AiGLX appears to be where it's all heading to. Xgl was a stopgap to use Mesa to indirectly provide the texture_from_pixmap extension. If your driver supports it under AiGLX, you should get better results, and less headaches. I've got Compiz (vanilla and Quinnstorm) runnig over AiGLX and my Intel 915 workstation is about as fast as my GLX GeForce 6800 Go.
