Bluetooth-alsa - headset sound with bad quality

Hi,

I used this howto
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_use_a_bluetooth_headset
to install a bluetooth headset on my machine.
The headset is working well with my mobile - quite a good sound quality.

But on the pc the sound is crackling and noisy - it's hard to understand anything.

I tried ALSA as well as the OSS implementation with both exact the same quality.
I tried xmms, skype... no difference.

I do not have a second bluetooth dongle to test out - it is a class 1 ( Manufacturer: Integrated System Solution Corp. (57) ) which was ok for all other purposes till now.

Is there anything I can do to improve the quality?
