hello!

my configuration:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon R300 NG [FireGL X1] (rev 80)
01:00.1 Display controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon R300 [FireGL X1] (Secondary) (rev 80)
xorg-x11 7.1, xorg-server 1.1.1-r1
xf86-video-ati-6.6.2

with kernel 2.6.18 a little bit of fast graphics came back to my desktop.
i gave up with the propreitary ati drivers some time ago. (preinitDAL failed).
so i use the open source driver now. since kernel 2.6.18 and a reemerged xorg-server glxgears now shows something more than 200 frames.
but still glxinfo says "direct rendering: no".
i took a look in my logfiles and found the following:
Code:
Sep 28 13:11:30 [kernel] agpgart: Found an AGP 2.0 compliant device at 0000:00:00.0.
Sep 28 13:11:30 [kernel] agpgart: Putting AGP V2 device at 0000:00:00.0 into 1x mode
Sep 28 13:11:30 [kernel] agpgart: Putting AGP V2 device at 0000:01:00.0 into 1x mode
Sep 28 13:11:30 [kernel] [drm] Setting GART location based on new memory map
Sep 28 13:11:30 [kernel] [drm] Loading R300 Microcode
Sep 28 13:11:30 [kernel] [drm] writeback test succeeded in 2 usecs
i would say most of that looks good (???) except the "1x mode".
does somebody have a idea what i could do against that?
i simply do not know which screw to turn since agpgart is part of the kernel and there are no parameters i could adjust or anything.

thanks in advance for your help and
kind regards
