Hey everyone, I'm having this weird problem while reinstalling Gentoo on my server. Everything goes right, there has been no problem until after partitioning my disks. When I try to make my partion ext3 the command line doesn't response after I hit the enter button. Creating a new session via SSH is no problem, but when I do that, even ls or cd gives the same respones as mke2fs does above. Don't really know what the problem is, it looks like something with the CD driver, but on the other hand I'm quite sure it functions propertly seen the boot sequence. For your information, it's a normal ATAPI IDE CDrom drive. Does anyone know what could be the problem? Thx! _________________ Reinoud.net |

It sounds like something locks up your harddisk when you run mke2fs. I've had similar problems sometimes with hal and apm. It's probably a kernel bug, so you could try some other livecd to make the filesystem, and then use your install cd to go from there. _________________ Gnome:

Well I switched the CD drive and that fixed the problem, for everyones information, the cd drive was a Iomega ZipCd 384int.
Thanks for the help! _________________ Reinoud.net |
