quando dò il comando

emerge -p --update --deep world
emerge mi vuole installare cairo-1.0.4 mentre ho installato la 1.2.4 , come posso fare per ovviare?

A me è capitato recentemente che pycairo volesse farlo e l'ho dovuto smascherare.

hai ragione, ho fatto la prova che hai detto te ed è proprio pycairo che vuole downgradare cairo, l'ho smascherato ed è andato tutto a posto.
