Gentoo and Intel Core 2 Duo 64 bit support?

Hello,

Has anyone out there installed Gentoo on the new Intel Core 2 Dual CPU for 64 bit applications? I am doing some investigating before I purchase the hardware. I know you can do AMD 64 easily, but I was wondering Intel. Is there a thread kicking around that I missed?

So far as the 64 bit extensions (and Gentoo) are concerned Intel x86 compatible 64 bit processors are amd64 processors, though processor type specific optimizations are not quite as developed for the Core and Core 2 types as they are for Athlon64 and Opteron types, yet.
