Ok, there's not much to say, except that I wish there was another way to get a working flash player on AMD64 without having to use INTERNET EXPLORER!!!
Youtube works flawlessly, even with sound - I can barely believe my eyes.
Follow the instructions and see it for yourself:)

(Wine + browser of your choice)
I've had firefox working in wine for some time, with no problems.
Edit: Didn't read the link before I replied, but you can definately use other things besides IE with wine. (wonder how well spyware works with wine?)

Youtube works flawlessly, even with sound - with the standard firefox-bin package.

... for those saying youtube working flawlessly in linux... no. It works, but flash has very serious A/V sync problems in version 7 on linux, because of the OSS code. In flash 9 that's using alsa (whenever it's released) because of this major bug. |

Just wait for Flash 9 for Linux beta, according to the Penguin.SWF blog, it'll be out soon anyway. _________________ 2.6.35 / Gnome 2.30

Yep. I think I had to download the installer from macromedia, but it works fine. |

Alternatively, you can try crossover office (based on wine). Although they didn't mention flash 9 works on their webpage, it does work. So only flash will be run under wine, the rest of firefox, mozilla, netscape, etc... can be run natively using Linux binary. It is much safer and more efficent that way... if you have the money. _________________ "There will be more joy in heaven over the tear-bathed face of a repentant sinner than over the white robes of a hundred just men." I just run the 32-bit flash plugin with the 64-bit version of Konqueror. Works perfectly (yes, without desync issues). |
