I am in the process of installing a macbook pro and cannot get the newtork up in the resulting system.
Basically, I wish to manually select my configuration since I will be using ethernet on ADSL at home and DHCP at my work. Therefore, if I understand well, I should tell /etc/conf.d/net not to bring up any configuration right at boot time (I do not want to be stuck with a computer which tries to get a DHCP address during 30 seconds, whereas I know it should fire up pppoe instead).
/etc/conf.d/net:
Regarding to the driver, I compiled sky2 as a module, and have it inserted (confirmed by lsmod).
I have also done pppoe-setup.
But when I try pppoe-start it does not work. Running it into debug mode produces no output after the header, which tells me that no input means driver problem. And now, I do not understand. :~(
I can also say that the connection is good (I am using it with another computer to post) and even works with the Minimal CD I use for the installation (but I will not do chroot during all my life).
Any ideas ? Thanks in advance.[/code][/profile] |
