So i'm trying to get morrowind to play using cedega but I keep running into the error "Unknown Frame Buffer mode" when I tell the game to play after getting the menu splash screen. I've combed the internet and found a few references to the issue but never found a resolution to the issue. The folks at #cedega weren't able to help and so far the transgaming forums haven't helped either. I've put in a support request with transgaming but I was ever wondering if anyone has encounter/fixed this error?
I'm running the latest version of cedega as well as the engine.
Equipment:
Nvidia go 7300 w/ latest stable drivers
Modes line: "800x600" "1024x768" "1280x768" "1280x1024"
Thanks in advance

Turns out it was the engine that was causing the problems. I installed 5.0 and set that to be the engine it uses and it comes up now. The big clue that something clicked with the older engine was the populated resolution drop down inside the morrowind options menu in the games splash screen. I set it to full screen at 1024x768 and told cedega to run it in a 1024x768 window and it runs okay now. |

I play in full screen (no Cedega Desktop) without any issues. But, the Morrowind engine is really bad. The framerate in Cedega can be pretty pathetic even with good hardware. It is dependant on the CPU more then anything else. _________________ Gentoo Gaming Videos |

Mmm... Its not terrible on mine. I prefer the window so I can get back to the cedega window with alt tab if the game goes south. The load times are certaintely better than when I played it on an xbox. It crashes a little more often than the xbox version did so far but i'm pretty sure thats a morrowind thing and now cedega. Although sometimes its fun to crash the game. Make your own enchanted super weapon and watch as the 100 pt Health Drain 50 ft area effect kills most of the inhabitents of a village. Then the guards swarm you you punk one and the graphic for the drain health effect consumes the screen and the games sputters and dies. |
