I'm receiving sometimes emails with few days delay, can somebody take a look at this heater and confirm which server is at fault?

I'd say that one (smtp.gentoo.org) and/or the hub receiving from it plus possibly other equipment in the middle have a role in the delay. In a gray past I recall some of our office's APAC mail hubs would easily chat to almost any other server but every now and then ran into communication errors with one other specific mta, while they all ran identical software on identical hardware. In our case some failing router in the middle *sometimes* garbled up the ip packets while handling the packages. Took a year to find out what exactly was the cause. (In hindsight it could have been easy, we just hadn't a clue back then why it would fail only now and then. At least, the nightmares have passed on, glad to say... Luckily we don't have to work those crappy Lotus cc-mail-servers anymore we lovingly referred to as our Bedrock-ware)
Does the delay ALWAYS only occur thru this link? |

Lately, I received only two few days late email notification that originate from smtp.gentoo.org.
Though, I have few days delay from FedEx servers as well; I reported the problem to them so they will be hunting for the problems.
Who knows what is causing these problems? |

I think I'd be pointing the finger at the Shaw servers. Just because the Gentoo machine couldn't get Shaw to accept the email any sooner doesn't mean smtp.gentoo.org _caused_ the delay.
You should try some actual tests sending messages via some method you have visibility of. |

Judgeing from the mail routing info the Shaw server doesn't seem to be invloved in the delay. But it's indeed a good tip to try and check some different routes that you can follow. If you have any progress to report, please let us know! |

I've tried sending mail: going out via one provider and coming back via Shaw, there is no delays.
Though I've noticed that I have similar problem with FedEx server. Their conformation email comes back to me with few days delay as well, almost every single conformation email from FedEx server via Shaw comes with that delay.
Though, next time I'll try to test both servers, Shaw and Interbaun. |
