I'm trying to install genkernel but I'm not exactly sure how. All I can find is how to install it with the computer online, but my computer can't get online at the moment. I downloaded the sources from a different computer and transferred them onto my laptop, but I'm not sure what the next step is. Does anyone know how to do this? |

I believe the LiveCD version of the installer has a version that will install only from the cd. Is the problem that you do not have a network connection at all or that your network card does not work upon booting? If it is the second, perhaps we should try to get that working instead.

yeah...it's just I can't get my network card to work. That's what I was working on originally, but with no success. |

What is the card (give output of lspci)? Did you try the net-setup program? Is the driver loaded but are you having trouble joining a network? It is a wired network, right ? |

I was able to get this out of his lspci/lspci -n
Card: Trendnet TEW-421PC Wireless CardBus Card
* Chipset: Texas Instruments ACX 111 54Mbps
* pciid: 104c:9066
Card: Trendnet TEW-423PI (version A)
* Chipset: Texas Instrument ACX 111
* pciid: 104c:9066 Windows
He said it was a Trendnet card, but unsure which model it was. I just searched on Ndiswrapper for possible cards. I am unsure which method to use to get his wireless card working though. |
