I reinstalled Gentoo along with all my packages that I need and now my CD/DVD drive and my floppy drive don't show in Storage Media. Yet, when I put in a cd it is automatically mounted by KDE, but if I put in a DVD I have to manually mount it. I have hal, dbus, and pmount installed and I've tried ivman. I'm starting pull hairs out because on my previous install, same configuration, this never happened. How can I get my CD/DVD drive and floppy drive to show in storage media? How can I also get a DVD to be automatically mounted? [I looked on these forums and seems alot of people have had this problem with KDE 3.5.4, but none of those suggestions worked for me.]

are you in ~ARCH?

if yes, try masking:
Code:

=sys-apps/hal-0.5.7.1-r1
=sys-apps/dbus-0.62-r1

this solved automounting problems (for me). using hal, dbus, pmount (not ivman)

In kcontrol you have to enable the media types and actions you want.

(Kcontrol -> Peripherals -> Storage Media )
