i'm sure a lot of us gentoo users in an eager attempt to get started did the following right after seeing the good ole "#" prompt
emerge --pretend kde
emerge kde
Doing so gives you an extremely bloated version of kde with games et. al.
To uninstall these (and any other kde fatty parts), do the following
emerge unmerge kdegames
emerge unmerge kdeedu
emerge unmerge kdetoys
The question I have is after these are done, it says:
IMPORTANT: 2 config files in /etc need updating.
But it doesn't tell you which ones and what specifically needs to be updated. Any ideas?

Try running: | Code: | | find /etc -iname '._cfg????_*' |
It will list the new files, for more information about the files and the way portage protects your system run: | Code: | | emerge --help config |
If you have gentoolkit installed, you can run That will walk you through each file and show you the differences.
