Reading around, and playing too, I find that many games work better under 24 bit and do not support 16 bit. However, I play a lot of Counter-Strike and Jedi Outcast uner WineX, and they balk if I don't have 16 bit set. Is there a way to change this on the fly, perhaps with xrandr or something? Games like Quake 3 can change the video depth, but I can't do that in the middle of a WineX game, I don't think.
