HI all!

Impressed of the xgl videos I decided to give it a try.
I followed the gentoo-wiki and I start in window mode to get it correct there before doing it permanent fullscreen.

Everything works just fine all the wooble, cube etc the problem is that when for example starting xterm in window mode. The whole xterm window is transparent/shows background behind xgl window(same for all apps that are started in xgl win)
However xterm works although you can´t see anything.

Now this gives me two alternatives

1.my laptop is an ibm t41 with ati radeon 7500 mob no direct rendering. (glx info shows mesa-glx indirect rendering)
and xgl just won´t work on this machine.

2. this is a config thing and with a downgrade to glproto 1.4.7 and some other thing it would be possible to get this to work although it will be pretty slow.

But you may want to do the AIGLX type install since you can use the linux drivers
on your video card.

Then you will not need Xgl, just run a normal X server with compiz or beryl as your window manager.
Try this wiki
Code:
http://gentoo-wiki.com/AIGLX
