Functioning Function Keys in Konsole

I was running xemacs -nw inside of a Konsole window and noticed that F1 - F4 were not getting passed on to the application. I found that setting Settings -> Keyboard to vt100 (historical) fixed this problem.

The XFree86 3.x xterm setting also works for me. I don't remember exactly how it's listed, my computer is a little sick at the moment.
