authentication error courier-authlib courier-imap

Hi,

I try to follow the guide "Virtual Mailhosting System with Postfix".
I'm a newbie on gentoo, postfix ... So I hope question I have are not so stupid.
Anyway, I emerged and setup Postfix successfully.

After I emerged courier-imap and courier-authlib.
Services imapd and pop3d are up.
I tried to connect by pop or imap (with a mail client) to my server but I got evry time this error on /var/log/messages :

Oct 3 16:36:10 linuxmail imapd: Connection, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1]
Oct 3 16:36:40 linuxmail imapd: LOGIN FAILED, user=toto,ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1]
Oct 3 16:36:40 linuxmail imapd: authentication error: Input/output error

I created a new user, same error. I checked that the staus of courier-authlib is started (by /etc/init.d/courier-authlib status )

Do I have to modify some other file to check my config? ( I Just emerge and change nothing for courier-authlib)

Is mysql running? I'll usually get this same error when I restart mysql. Make sure that courier is able to talk with Mysql.

No MySql isn't running, I didin't emerge it.

I think that's your problem. You'll need mysql. Step 7 of that guide is installing Mysql. You should make sure everything is installed and configured before testing.

As a good newbie, I followed the guide and they asked to check everything is working before to emerge Cyrus-sasl.

Anyway, I'll continue this guide.
