my system is running slow for some reason. To break this down I mean to login to my isername takes about a minute. When I open a program it takes about a minute. What reasons could this be happening?

maybe you have a process who request a lot of ressources ?

Hostame setup properly could be the issue. How can I check the hostanme to be vaild? |

write hostname, then ping that address, it should be pining 127.0.0.1 |

yes, it should show it pinging 127.0.0.1 |

it's probably best not to make you hostname localhost, but the 127.0.0.1 entry in /etc/hosts should be localhost. |

well lets start from a known position. cat and then post your /etc/conf.d/hostname and your /etc/hosts. |
