To Update Xgl Or Not To Upate Xgl That Is The Question

Well I am running on compiz 0.0.13_pre20060823-r1. I installed xgl about a month ago and followed the much out of date wiki guide. Based on what I have seen I am a little leary about updating it from the problems I have seen and since I have a stable system. Since then compiz has been put into portage and numerous other changes. I was kind of waiting to see the new wiki that coffebuzz and the rest of the gang were working on before I really did anything.

If I were to do an update should I follow what was posted in the Gentoo Wiki Guide for updating compiz, using laymen etc or just go through portage?

It seems like people were having problems with xorg-server-1.1.1-r1 which is another reason I was holding off.

Any recommendations?

dont upgrade if it's working. I did upgrade to Compiz 0.2.0 from Portage, and Xgl is not working for me anymore.....
