Hi all.
I want to switch from my old networking server to an embedded system based on freewrt. The old server was in a drak and small room, where nobody works with it. As the embedded system has to usb ports i want to connect freewrt to a printer at the first floor. The internet connection is where the old server was. So.. now i need a secure way to connect modem with freewrt device. As the old server provieded to the whole lan internet and some services, i thouth that i could do it this way:
|---------|
| freewrt | <-> usb printer
|---------|
| |
| | (two lines.. one connected to wan clip and the other to the lan clip)
| |
|--------|
| Switch |---------------| other computers in the lan |
|--------|
|
|
|
|--------------------|
| Internet modem |
|--------------------|
So the switch should know where to end packages from/to the freewrt device. Traffic from other networks (192.168.1.x) should send to/from lan clip at freewrt.
My question now:
1) Can this work
2) How secure is it?
Thank, AC
PS: Sorry, there i no way to move the modem into the first floor neighter to move the printer into the dark and small room |
