Hi, ALL,
I have a very interesting problem. 
I installed Gentoo on my box, compiled the kernel (2.6.17-r7) by hand and turned on
framebuffer in the kernel using vesa-ng driver.
In the grub I have the following:

vieo=vesafb:mtrr,ywrap,1280x1024-32@60
|
Now, everything work fine, I am botting up into the command prompt.
Next step I installed X with KDE, by running
emerge kde
I configured X, and started KDE. Everything works perfect.
However, when I finish KDE session, my screen goes black wih the message "Out of range".
What I can do to have my prompt back?

| hmm, sounds a little odd... If you switch VT's can you happily hop to a non-fb VT ? (ie is the problem definitely fb related?) |
