hello!

I'm having a resolution problem with gdm for quite some time.

It seems that when X starts, the correct resolution (1024x768)appears then gdm start and the resolution comes to (640x480) with very tiny font size....

After login, Gnome starts with correct resolution and eveything's fine.

I've a Asus Pundit-R (radeon 9100 IGP)

I've tried messing with driver(ati and Xf86-ati),xorg.conf,i can't seem to find the problem....

Here's gdm log

I was having the same problem running at 1400x1024 desktop but gdm was all over the place

add this to yor xorg.conf

Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen 1"
Device "Radeon 9100 IGP"
Monitor "Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 900U"
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Viewport 0 0
Depth 24
Modes "1024x768-60" "800x600-60" "640x480-60"
EndSubSection

I think thats how I got mine to work Im not at my pc atm
just add the modes you want and the refresh rates as well, no more than 60 for big lcd outherwise it displayes thing all stuffed up in gdm

have fun :-P

Thank you!!! :D

It worked perfectly , now the resolution is correct!!

Fonts in gdm are still tiny (the one used for typing login)...

I'll look into it!

I found a way to change my font size in GDM 8)

In this post : https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-447258-highlight-font+size+gdm.html

I've added -dpi 200 after the command that launch X in my /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf

Code:

# Definition of the standard X server.
[server-Standard]
name=Standard server
command=/usr/X11R6/bin/X -audit 0 -dpi 200
flexible=true
chooser=false
handled=true
priority=0

The only strange thing is the mouse cursor which is half size from normal.... 8O
