Hi!
I have a wireless card that i use only for my home network and which and to start and stop at will.
The problem is that when i do /etc/init.d/net.ra0 stop, a bunch of services stop as well, namely sshd, ntpd, noip. It seems that as they all depend on net, they all stop. They all need a working internet connection, but mine (an adsl connection) doesn't even get started with a net.xxx script.
Any suggestion how to avoid the dependency of those services to the wireless connection?
Thanks in advance.

Why not ?
Fixing this would fix your "net" dependency problem. |

Hi!
Thanks for the suggestion because it helped me solve the problem.
I have an USB alcatel speedtouch modem for the adsl connection and followed an old how-to. Meanwhile, changes occurred in the baselayout.
So, all i had to do was to create a symlink net.ppp0 to net.lo in /etc/init.d/ and set the ppp connection options in /etc/conf.d/net. I also added net.ppp0 to the default runlevel. I also had to remove the obsolete files /etc/conf.d/net.ppp0, /etc/ppp/peers/adsl, /etc/options-pppoe.
Now, stopping the wireless connection doesn't stop the "net related" services.
Thank you. |
