My Logitech USB mouse is no longer working. Since I am not using it all the time with my laptop, I probably upgraded some software and it stopped working. I am unable to find out the root cause of this problem.

The mouse is not working in console (gpm) or Xorg mode. It is recognized when I plug the RF USB stick and I am getting the following messages after having enabled the DEBUG in the scripts:

The problem is there is no module found for INPUT as per the message in the syslog. It doesn't change anything if I configure the gpm as you suggest. In fact, I had already tested with a similar configuration.

BTW, since it is a laptop, I have as well an integrated pointing device which is working perfectly. Also, I have no problem to make my USB port working with USB memory sticks. And, again, as per the syslog messages the USB identify the mouse, but seems no be able to load a module. Which one is it supposed to load? Is there something wrong with the configuration? The /lib/modules/`uname -r`/modules.inputmap is as follow:
