I cannot make my USB key or my camera automounted anymore, and I really don't know what to do. I have :
dbus-0.61-r1
hal-0.5.7-r3
ivman-0.6.12
kdebase-kioslaves-3.5.2
For example, when I plug my USB key, I get these messages in /var/log/messages :
Code: | Oct 8 23:33:24 computer1 usb 1-4: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 2

And then, nothing else happen. I cannot see the usb key mounted in /media or an icon appearing on the desktop either. As you can see in the messages, there is nothing indicating that the key has been "linked" to a device node like /dev/sda1 etc. I have another computer with exactly the same config and I don't have that problem! As far as I know, I didn't make big changes on my gentoo installation, I just keep it up to date, et do "etc-update" each time I "emerge -uD world".
Help please!

If you have xdm at boot try too move it to the default-runlevel.
Code: | su
rc-update del xdm boot && rc-update add xdm default |
I had a similar issue caused by that because hald and dbus got loaded after xdm so kde didn't recognize them. Maybe it's the same issue...^^

I solved the problem : This option must be set in the kernel :
Device Drivers -> SCSI Device Support -> SCSI disk support
I really don't know why it wasn't set... |
