I have a weird problem. I have a TV card whose audio is directly hooked up to my sound card "Line in" jack. I got the audio and TV card working, but there is a slight problem. When I start my system, I start recieving audio from the TV card. So depending on what channel I left it last time, the audio will come up from that channel.

I use Xawtv to watch TV. When I close this program, the audio remains. In-fact, the audio remains until I power down my system. When I do "reboot", the audio remains until my system power goes down.

Any suggestion on what could be wrong?

I have actually seen similar events, it seems to me that you are having a hardware problem. Obviously there is no software that survives the reboot and yet the sound remains. I don't mean that you have faulty hardware that needs to be replaced though. I had a situation once where my CD-ROM drive never got the "message" from software to stop playing and even though my machine was halted I was hearing my audio CD playing through my soundcard and out onto my speakers. My assumption is that xawtv does not properly "close" that connection at the hardware level and your TV card still "thinks" it is supposed to be sending the information. Or rather (and probably MUCH more accurate) your soundcard may still be "listening" on that connection when it is no longer supposed to be. Alas, as I'm sure any Computer Engineer could tell I am simply a wanna-be theorizing into histeria. I don't "know" what your troubles are, but I would bet large sums that it has to do with software not properly communicating to your hardware what you want it to do. So I guess that would actually be a software problem then, eh? He he I am going around in circles (only in text, in my mind it makes perfect sense--which is probably a bad thing.)

I hope you get it figured out. I hope that someone useful on the topic (ie not me) reads this thread and actually gives you some suggestions that are benefitial to you!

Good luck!!!!
