I have gotten through a very problematic install process of 1.1a only to have it fail at the very end. I got the kernel to compile, set up GRUB (can boot my Win2K no problem) and fstab etc. The problem that during boot it hangs always at the same place. The boot messages are as follows
...
.
.
Freeing unused kernel memory
INIT: version 2.83 booting
usb.c: Found .........
scsi0 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage Devices
At this the system hangs. What I dont reall know is if this vccould be a problem with the compilation of the kernel or if it is a problem with my startup scrips. What confuses me is that I have no SCSI devices atached my machine so where does scsi0 come from??
My hardware:
Sony VAIO Superslim (PCG-R505JS) with dockbase with CROM (via Firewire and currently no possible to use due to lack of complete drivers - so I have been told)
PIII 850
256 RAM
30GB
CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive in base
THANKS FOR THE HELP! |
