Hi
Suddenly after every boot I get each time a different error for a starting service:
for instance , once gpm cannot be started , in "/usr/sbin", the gpm file is not a binary file anymore.
It becomes an unkown type file. Some other time , dbus cannot be started.
A few days ago, all my ext3 type partitions were checked claiming thery were not have been checked for more than 400 days [as if i changed the time] and at the next boot it had to check them again because the time was correct again if I may say...
Every time I boot I get "something". I never had this problem before.
The system still works...
I even reinstalled baselayout but it did not help.
Any clue?
I use the 2.6.17-gentoo-r4 kernel, sys-apps/baselayout-1.12.5-r2 . |

Have you fschk'd your filesystems (and perhaps checked for bad blocks)?
Sounds a bit like it might be a hardware problem. _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered

Hi
For a few days, the problem disappeared.
And today it went back, now metalog cannot start:
Code: | /etc/init.d/metalog : line 15 : 5580 segmentation fault |
So it comes and goes...
Any idea?
Thank you , Serge |

Well, Ken, I think you are right...
Today i got :
Code: | hda: drive not ready for command |
I dont know if it is a coincidence: I added a hard disk [hdb] and it seems to me now
that the different warnings started to appear after having added it...Maybe i am wrong.
However both of them, the hard disk [hdb] and the problem are new...
What is the best way to clone the defective hard drive with a new one?
