This problem is most apparent while using firefox. Whenever i do something like add a new tab or load a new page, the system freezes briefly (half a second or so). At first I though its b/c my laptop is slow, but everything works smoothly under Windows. I am using 2.6.17-Beyond sources and reiser4.
Im not sure if this is related, but when i'm using pandora(internet music), the music completely stops when i'm dragging something on the desktop. Does this sound like a kernel problem? |

it is a common problem in linux because linux was design for server and background processes when desktop usually take care more for running in that moment processes.
You could try to patch you kernel with some desktop specific engagements like more desktop oriented CPU scheduler test different hdd scheduler too. increase running priority to desktop processes and many others check the forum is full of this advices. _________________ www.gentoo.ro |
