How can I install gentoo on Merom laptop

Hi all,
I have a Acer 5585 laptop(Core 2 Duo 7200+Geforce Go 7300(128M)+PATA 120G HD), wanna install gentoo on it.
I'm a fresh man using gentoo, it will be my first time installing gentoo.
What can I do? Can I install 2006.1 LiveCD on it or starting by stage3 portage is better?
There's many handbooks, which one I should follow?

Can anybody give me any suggestion?
