Hi there , my webcam has been driving me up the wall when trying to get it to work properly in linux, its birghtness works perfectly fine in windows (moan) but in linux, it only seems to work with the spca5xx drivers. I'd have no problem with this except that the image is VERY dark , i have turned the birghtness up to full 255 via the paramters in modprobe spca5xx aswell as trying to do it in gqcam. For some reason gqcam seems to want to load every time with autobrightness on (even though i've specifies it to off at the command prompt!). Is there any way of overriding the driver some how and making the image brighter than 255 as i know it can look brighter in windows? or do I have to resort to putting it through some kind of brightness filter?

i've also tried many other drivers including

qc-usb
qc-usb-messenger (though i dont know if i need to load it other than modprobe quickcam)
sn9c102

None seem to work for my camera and i was wondering if anyone has the same camera with a success story to tell me how to configure it in gentoo?

Thanks in advance.

Same here with a Chez-ez V:U (alien) webcam using spca5xx, even with gqcam the same stuff, but no solution. This has been the case since at least a year ago.
