I am installing a stage1 tarball to my Athlon XP. After the bootstrap phase, when I enter compilation stops with the error "GNU M4 1.4 required". I found out that this is a macro processor and can be loaded with | Code: | | emerge sys-devel/m4 |
so i reentered "emerge system"and I am awaiting the rsults.. Does anyone know what is happening and/or have any suggestions? |

| I would like to know too, I received the same error during my 'emerge system' but I just typed 'emerge system' again and it continued just fine. I don't remeber seeing it being installed the second time. Would not having this result in a kernel compilation failure? |
