Hello,

xmms is not working after my recent system update. This is version 1.2.10-r15 I don't know what it was before the update. I have no idea how to find out whats wrong. If not fixable maybe someone can reccomend another player with a useable playlist.

Thanks,
Adam

Here is my make.conf:

Try the following: first, sync your portage tree ("emerge --sync"). Then, try "emerge -auvDN media-sound/xmms". If that doesn't pull in any packages, try reemerging xmms ("emerge media-sound/xmms"). If xmms still doesn't work after these steps, do a "revdep-rebuild" (emerge app-portage/gentoolkit if you don't have revdep-rebuild).

Code:
USE="-lirc" emerge xmms

Have you managed to miss the news that xmms is no longer supported on Gentoo?

I have noticed that. No surprise since there has been no real upkeep on it. That is all I have ever used besides freeamp from back in the day with RH 5.2. Now my question is, what is the next best thing for playing MP3s like xmms and freeamp?

No music, No work getting done is the way I see it and it is happening. Too quiet in the office. Need music.
