Hello Folks,
I am currently trying to install gentoo linux on an IBM ThinkCentre with a SATA Controller. Booting from the LiveCD works fine and I can see the discs. The kernel on the LiveCD is a 2.6.15-gentoo-r5 (2006.0 LiveCD). It uses the ata_piix module.
If I compile the kernel on my own (gentoo-sources, 2.6.18), dmesg shows that it detects the sata controller is found. Even the disc serial number shows up - but no drives/devices - even using vanilla sources (2.6.19-rc2).
Any ideas?
thx.

Did you enable Sata AHCI support? I had a similar problem until I did that. |
