I had an IBM Netfinity M!0 was set up with Gentoo and unfortunatly during a ups upgrade gave me post errors on its boot up . something is wrong with the machine and I am trying to decide if it is better to repace teh parts one buy one until it comes up or to uptade to a new server. The maine issue here is that all of my programming is only on the old SCSI drives.

Can I just move the drives to a new IBM SCSI machine without causing any HD damage?
My biggest consern is that I was not able to back up my code prior to the machine going down.

Are the disks part of a raid array? If not you can put them safely in another system and check them. I wouldn't try booting off them without checking them and making sure the machines are compatable as far as the kernel is concerned.
