I was in two minds about which forum to post this in.
I know what I'm doing with bridged firewalls and I've successfully set one up with development-sources (which has the required code already). However for a number of reasons I need to do the same with a 2.4 series kernel on gentoo.
I've tried every relevant patch on bridge.sourceforge.net. Most of them won't even patch in, and those that do, won't compile.
I tried it with vanilla sources as well.
Does anybody know of a pairing of a gentoo 2.4 kernel source set and a bridge-nf patch that actually works?
TIA,
Matt. |

Ah, okay. Finally, just hours after I proclaimed, "I know what I'm doing with bridged firewalls", I proved that I don't!
User error was to blame, I didn't realise that the ebtables patch has to be applied before the bridge-nf patch - even though I don't plan on using the ebtables functionality.
The bridged firewalls I've done before have been on ready-patched kernels, so this was the first time I'd rolled my own patches.
I've now successfully compiled gentoo-sources 2.4.20-r2 with ebtables-v2.0.0.003_vs_2.4.20.diff and bridge-nf-0.0.10-against-2.4.20.diff applied. |
