As the title suggests I am looking for the highest output fan with the lowest noise. I intend to use it on a CPU heatsink, to replace a Vantec Tornado 92mm at 7v which is still very loud. I expect to have to use a 120mm fan, but would like to know anyones experiences with either getting a "designed to be quiet" fan, such as an AcoustiFan or zalman or a standard fairly loud (but high CFM) fan and running it at 7v. I now know better than to get a very loud by design fan, even at 7v they are nowhere near quiet.
I decided to ask here not on a more overclocking oriented forum as the users here are more sensitive to not wanting extreme noise (at least I hope you are )
Thanks for any thoughts, and links to tables of various fans with noise and CFM ratings would be very much appreciated as my searches have turned up little

I think this is a Gentoo support forum so this is not the right place. But:
Less noise usually means less air moved. So it is always a compromise. A fan is usually quite quiet if it rotates <1200rpm. Consider Nexus 12cm silent fan, or Scythe equivalents. |
