Hello!
I have a lexmark z22 (but z32 = same thing) printer, and can't get it to work under gentoo.
Any hints?
linuxprinting.org has a foomatic kit for it, but that won't work wihtout the lexmark drivers installed.
they're a rpm and have a milion deps that aren't detected but are emerged.
There's a sourceforge project, but it's only got support for old postscript and i dun know how to install it.
http://lxm3200.sourceforge.net/
any help/clues/expierience? thanks!

I spent a week and a half trying to get my z22 working...
I had it working POORLY on several versions of mandrake/redhat at various times(text was misaligned with itself, like this:)
Code: |
|||||
.|||||
|||||
.|||||
|||||
|
(ignore the dots...I wanted spaces where tehy are)
I could never get it working at all on any gentoo systems, with lprng, cups, usb, parport, or anything.
THe printer is a piece of crap anyways, and even if you do get it work, there's a good chance it won't print correctly.
I ended up getting a cheap POS Apollo printer that works FLAWLESSLY under gentoo/cups, and networks just great via samba.
Ditch the z22, it's a piece of junk. Seriously...I wrestled with it for over a year now.

My Z22/32 works flawlessly... I used the Lexmark drivers on it, and haven't even thought about it since. |
