I can't figure out how to set what firefox should do when I click on a link to a pdf file.
This must be configureable somewhere, but I can't find it.
I have found a setting for using gv for postscript files, but I can't add anything else to that list of actions.
I think it really sucks to hide the list of actions from the user.
Bad Firefox, bad firefox. Shame on you.
Now, how do I get a list of actions? |

To remove or change actions, go to Edit -> Preferences -> Downloads -> View & Edit Actions.
To add a new action, wait until you try to download something. FF presets a "what do I do with this" dialog, at that point specify the application that should handle it. _________________ "Mr Thomas Edison has been up on the two previous nights discovering 'a bug' in his phonograph." --Pall Mall Gazette (1889)

But when it opens things by default? It just opens pdf files, it doesn't ask me anything.
And if I tells it to do something, it seems to forget that. |

Do you see a PDF action in View & Edit Actions?
Have you made changes, and they didn't work?
What happens if you remove the action? _________________ "Mr Thomas Edison has been up on the two previous nights discovering 'a bug' in his phonograph." --Pall Mall Gazette (1889)

I see no action. That's the problem. |

I had a same problem.
Then I changed pdf open action from nautilus to use kpdf, and now firefox opens pdf files using kpdf.
I have no idea why firefox follows Nautilus settings on that, but it did the trick. |

Now I finaly got a dialog: "what to do, but I can't check the box: "do this automatically for files like this from now n".
What the hell is wrong with firefoxs usability? |

And one more very annoying thing: I can't just select kpdf, I have to write a path that will be invalid in kde 3.5.6 or later. |
