Hello. I'm a Gent-idiot (my husband has taken to handling the Gentoo installs/maintenance for both our machines), and I've located via the Lexmark site Linux drivers for Lexmark printers, but they seem to have none for my printer. And they're .rpm's. I've been searching here, and when it comes to a command line I can get about as far as "ping" and "ifconfig", "ls" and "man", but beyond that am lost (read: fearful). I can't find any ebuilds that satisfy "Lexmark" in any event. I've started looking via Google, but am not finding anything very helpful with gaining a driver in the first place, let alone installation. Any hints and/or direction for me to look to solve my problem would be appreciated.

There doesn't seem to be any entry for your particular printer, so I would guess that it isn't supported by any open source drivers. You might check with Lexmark support to see if they provide linux drivers for your printer. I know you said that you couldn't find any, but it may be that one of the other driver packages they provide will work with your model printer. If so, then you can post to see if anyone can help with getting an rpm based package installed in Gentoo.
