I remember installing a qt revision some time today and when I restarted by computer a few minutes ago all of my fonts are really small. Maybe it's from something else that is not qt related, since even my gtk apps (Firefox, Gaim) have really small fonts now.

I was able to increase the size of fonts in KDE, but the fonts in my gtk apps remain very small. Does anyone know how to fix this? I can barely read the text in Firefox and Gaim because it's so small.

Alright, I seem to have figured it out how to fix the problem that I was having, but I'm not sure exactly what introduced it.

Apparently these two lines in my /etc/X11/xorg.conf were the culprits:
Code:
FontPath     "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/:unscaled"
FontPath     "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/:unscaled"

I'm guessing that the unscaled means to not scale the fonts up so that they look good on high resolutions (I'm running 1280x1024).

When I commented those out and restarted X, all was well again. I'm not sure if the lines had been there for a while (maybe the ebuild for the qt update added them?) or what. Anyway, it's solved now.

I've tried that with no success, I'm getting desperate.

Have you tried deleting or moving ~/.gtkrc-2.0 ? Maybe it refers to some bad font.

I've done that. I just installed firefox-bin and the page fonts are OK but window fonts are quite big. Really strange...

Have you set "DisplaySize" to a good value?

from http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Xorg_and_Fonts

File: /etc/X11/xorg.conf:
Code:

Section "Monitor"
    Identifier          "Monitor0"
    :
    DisplaySize         340 270
    :
EndSection

I used to have that problem too.

See this thread for (possible) alternate solution.
