Hello
since a couple of days, i'm receiving sometimes up to 100 mails a day 'undeliverable' etc... type mails.
when i see the FROM address i see <random>@electrobel.be
electrobel.be being one of my domains.
the messages do not come from my server (i checked just in case), but somehow some spammer decided to use my domain for his from ..
i know this has nothing to do with gentoo (even though my server is gentoo), but i have no idea where i could ask for advice =)
1/ My domain will probably get blacklisted ?
2/ Is there anything i can do ?
This domain is used for a website that sends mails to it's users (registration etc...), so i'd rather they weren't spam flagged .... |

blacklisting is normally done on sender IP addresses
if you're mailserver is not used to send spam, you should be fine

you could track down the origin of the mail, and try to convince the spammer's ISP to block it's account _________________ Unanswered Post Initiative | Search | FAQ

More and more of this kind of gibberish is sent by those virus-infected Windows machines, which get connected to huge zombie-botnet and are controlled by malicious blackhats. So it's not one random account somewhere sends that spam: more likely some botnet just sent out that crap. Sender addresses and other information in those mails seems to be chosen randomly.
So there's not much what you can do. _________________ Yes, I'm the man. Now it's your turn to decide if I meant "Yes, I'm the male." or "Yes, I am the Unix Manual Page.". |
