Thinkpad T30 Touchpad not found

Greetings,

i've installed Gentoo with the liveCD using a stage3 install and
emerged after the whole configuration stuff which is to be done
after the install and before X, the Xorg server.

Now i'm on to configure the xorg.conf, but there are still some
problems to solve...

The trickiest of all is, i think, that problem, that i'm not gonna
get my touchpad working. Via various websites I found out that
I need to emerge the synaptics driver and i found an example
config of the xorg.conf for using the touchpad and the trackball
at the same time.
But i only get the trackpoint to use.
Then i checked via cat the /proc/bus/input/devices and found
out, that he doesn't recognized my touchpad.

any idea how to make gentoo find it?
