My friend is running a hp pav. zv5000. I am not sure what the Hardware Specs are. When the computer starts it gives the logo screen. "hp invent - intel inside.... etc. etc. etc...." From there it give sme the option of entering the bios to change the [esc] boot order to [f10] enter setup or to [f12] boot from lan. I went into the bios settings to change the boot order... still nothing. I tried all combinations each with the LAN at the end of the list. It doesn't even spin up the cdrom drive on start up to check. In the bios I went to check what type of harddrive he was running and possibly to run any diagnostics on it. It tell me there are no IDE devices connected which tells me obviously that other than the network card the motherboard is failing to recognize any other bootable hardware. We are currently studying in China which makes finding tech support rather difficult. Any help you all could offer would be fantastic!

Lou

Is your CD-rom working at all? Do you have the master/slave jumpers set correctly? Does your bios have a "detect HD devices" option (usually towards the end)?

The CD Rom doesn't even spin up. The Jumpers are all set properly. The HD Detect is available and says that no IDE Devices are available. I'm wondering if it's possible that his motherboard may have possibly shorted out. He leaves it plugged into ac all the time with few exceptions. Here are the final messages given before the boot failure.

Intel UNDI, PXE-2.0 (build 082)
Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation

For Realtec RTL8139(X)/8130/810X PCI Fast Ethernet Controller v2.13 (020326)
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM.d lan.

If the network cable is connected to the computer and a dhcp is running it attempts to boot but obviously because there is no imaging system installed on the network it doesn't...

Thanks again,

Louie
