i'm trying to emerge gtk+-1.2.10-r12. It failes with
| Code: | | Failed to run aclocal |
As suggested in some other threads i tried to remerge automake and / or automake-wrappers without any success.
I'm trying to install gtk+ on a fresh 2006.1 stage1 install with gcc-4.1.1 and safe CFLAGS |

aclocal is a tool for configureing the sourcecode before the build process starts... so i don't see what my locales could have to do with it... but yes, i'm sure that they are set properly |

If you check the error log you will see it needs aclocal-1.4 which, most likely, you don't have.
Why it needs this specific version - I don't know.
I would ask another question: what has pulled old 1.* series gtk+ and why?

In my case this gtk+ version is pulled by gnomebaker.
Try emerge -pvt amarok to see which package needs it in your case

| it looks like xmms depends on this old gtk+ version. i removed xmms from my USE flags and now the gtk+ dependency seems to be gone. |

Im having the exact same issue while trying to emerge E17...
nobody got any idea ? |

Please post all of the error messages and the relevant parts of files indicated for inclusion in bug reports.
