Hi all,
First of all, I want to make sure you the reader knows, all the following is and will be AMD64/EMT64 based. NOT x86.
I dumped my Gentoo when I when from my NF4/AMD system to my new C2D NF590 ASUS P5N32-SLI Premium Intel edition MB.
The LiveDVD results in NO ethernet with Forcedeth AND NO DMRAID <again> I was stuck on the 2.6.15 sources because of the RAID issue.
The MinCD booted and I was able to get DHCP ip address whereas I couldn't above and still NO RAID 0. /dev/mapper contains only control.
Well the raid-0 array has been recreated using this boards NF Raid BIOS so it better map out correctly.
So if someone knows how is up to the challenge of making a bootable ISO for C2D/NF590 boards lets get started. I want to 'Gentoo' and XGL now that NVidia has pixmap included in the latest driver set.
If I was to make it myself this is what would be used. Most likely these will have all to be ~x86 bits.
Latest kernel 2.6.18. These are supposedly work with the NF 590 and SB MCP55...
Latest kernel DMRAID code patched into kernel if need be before building.
GLibc 2.5 ntpl, ntplonly
GCC 4.1.1
Latest Binutils if needed.
Genkernel WITH UPDATED Dev-mapper for initrd!!!!!
grub4dos to ease adding to a running WinXP environment.
Anything else that is a 'min' or 'Live' CD binary.
The std SATA_NV and such need to be compiled in. My board has the Realtek USB wireless. 2 Gb Ethernet(NF), USB mouse.
My MSN is 'ron3763' at 'msn.com' so msg me and we'll talk more one to one if I wasn't complete enough in this request.
Regards and thank you all for your time and I hope we can get an ISO up and running for the NF590 masses. _________________ -Ron |
