Have you tried FEATURES="noman"? That should cut down a bit of space too... _________________ What are you, stupid? |

I wasn't aware of that feature. Note unneeded files and directories can easily be skipped using mksquashfs exclude list. Mine is pretty big but it's yet efficient as it removes /usr/share/man, /usr/share/info, /usr/share/doc, plus many other big ones. The advantage is I don't need to copy my source tree into a temporary location to just remove unneeded files. I "squash" my source tree directly from where it is, while my chroot environment is full-featured. _________________ Gentoo addict: tomorrow I quit, I promise!... Just one more emerge...

So I have partly change my USB partition structure:
SDA1 vfat 5MB syslinux
SDA5 ext2 65MB liveUSB
SDA6 ext2 25MB /root
SDA7 vfat ~900MB /root/files
I have also erase all the info and man for usb purpose, so I have now 39MB livecd.squashfs
It will raise litle when I add some modules that are needed (I I found somewhere functionality faults) and also some other programs (opera, sylpheed, etc)
Now it is composed of some rescue and filesystem utils, kdrive + fvwm, rxvt-unicode, mc, elinks, centericq, cplay, conky
Just everything I need:)
Does anyone know how to make liveUSBs like that workable under windows with for example qemu?
I want to boot whole usb stick to have all the partitions accesible.
I looked to DSL files, but they use some other structure _________________ Arch & Fluxbox & 2.6.24-rc-zen!!!!

To make your USB key useable under Windows (without manually assigning a drive letter to every partition on the USB stick) move your Live USB partition (plus any other one that doesn't have a FAT filesystem) to the end. Windows only sees FAT and give a drive letter only to the first partition it sees. _________________ Gentoo addict: tomorrow I quit, I promise!... Just one more emerge...
