Hello all,
I fried my video card the other day and threw in an old spare Viper 770. It has been awhile since I've updated so this is the first time I've used the nvidia-legacy-drivers. So somehow I got my system all confused in the merging, unmerging, updating activities revolving around updating the nvidia drivers and xorg layout.
The problem is the legacy drivers are installed and work, but no direct rendering. When I use "eselect opengl set nvidia" it seems to work. But then running glxinfo crashes me out of X.
checking my Xorg.0.log file in /var/log shows (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to load GLX
If I use "eselect opengl set xorg-x11" glxinfo does not crash me out of X, but direct rendering is No.
Interestingly, while the Xorg.0.log file still gives the same message above, just before it NV-GLX loads successfully.
My belief is that using eselect to choose the nvidia drivers loads the old glx (which have I unmerged). I suspect I need to manually clean some files, can someone point me in the right direction?
[EDIT]
When selected to xorg-x11 glx above, glxinfo shows OpenGL Renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
Still can't see what it would be when glx is set to nvidia, how can I find out if glxinfo crashes on me?
